Holder: I want an Assault Weapons ban!
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=6960824&page=1
This time, not in the guise of "saving the children," but to save Mexico. Is Holder coming out and talking about the recent govt. report that 80% of serious crime is committed by gangs? No. He's maneuvering against gun owners. This is absolute bullshit. And frankly, this means war. |

America's lax gun laws are fueling the drug wars in Mexico. Mexico must stop the drug flow, and America must stop the gun flow. And just like we fight drugs by criminalizing them, we should do the same with dangerous weapons. They are the two principal players in the drug wars, and we have to eliminate both.

My check went to the NRA yesterday. I thought either this kind of gun control or the Fairness Doctrine would be the straw that breaks the camel's back and there will be serious conflict in the US.

So the mexicans won't be able to get assault weapons because it's against the law? What are you smoking? I guess the mexicans didn't know it was illegal to kill people or to sneak across our borders. Once they find out it is, that activity will stop as well?

Actually, Holder must be getting a kickback from the arms industry, because it has already been super-crazy, and now the run on guns, magazines, and ammo is only going to get worse (if possible). Gun stores empty, gun shows with crazy prices, walmart with bare shelves of ammo, 6 month waiting lists on AR-15s, high-cap magazines out of stock all over the country. It's a bonanza for the arms companies. Not to mention expansion of war in Afghanistan. |

Will an assault weapons band prevent criminals from getting such weapons?

To say that we must have laws that will prevent a single criminal from obtaining a gun is kind of like saying we must not prosecute anyone as long as we are and have convicted innocent people. Of course there is and always will be a blackmarket for guns. |
