Default Cool. 25% cut in military spending.

Per Barney Frank. Nice.

No cuts anywhere else in the federal government! In fact more spending. Just cut the one area where the President is clearly charged to protect the country from foreign threat.

And which takes up the second largest slice of the budget after social security, and which is incredibly inefficient and wasteful? I hate that the DoD is the sacred cow and its budget cannot be cut, but only increased. It's not healthy for the military to have the mentality that the spigots will always give whatever it wants. There should be prioritization, elimination of wasteful programs/spending, etc.

Obama believes in peace. If the U.S. isn't out looking for a fight, it won't have to spend as much. In fact, the military should be stronger because they can use the money to rebuild what was expended during the Bush Administration. Bush's policies have left the military spread thin and ill-equipped.

I sometimes think that in an effort not to appear as a wimp, Obama will turn out to be our biggest warmonger president ever. I don't see attacks/invasions on Iran and Pakistan as out of the question with this guy. (Think global crisis/test and his unpopular response according to Biden.) Those who vote for him because he's "antiwar" are going to be sorely dissapointed IMO, although I think they'll end up supporting him, which just proves how hypocritical most people are.

Cuts across the board may be warranted but this is a Clinton approach slash the military and increase all other expenditures. Not impressive.

First off, this article has nothing to do with the presidency.

Second, a 25% cut, as suggested by Barney Frank, would still leave us well above Clinton-era defense spending, even accounting for inflation.

Because what we really need in the War on Terror is a comparison to pre-9/11 defense spending.

I knew I could count on you to bring up terrorism. I don't take disappointment well, so thanks.

I think you have me confused with some Arabs in the Middle East, but you're welcome.
