New Car
We purchased a new car last night -- a Honda Oddyssey, 2008 model. We got a great deal -- the dealership had 100+ in stock and was trying to dump them to make room for the 2009 models; they just had too much inventory. I really wished Honda made the Oddyssey in a hybrid, but oh well. I found out how much the dealership purchased the car from Honda, and they lost a thousand dollars on the sale.
My wife is okay with the fact that we're now a van family, although she did insist on it being jet black with tinted windows and tan leather interior. I love it.

AS the proud owner of my second minivan, I feel obligated to tell you that no matter what color it is, or what the interior is made of, or what sport pf rims you put on it, or even if it has dice hanging from the mirror, a minivan is never anything but swell. It is never cool, or hott, or neat. IT is only swell.

Know this my friend, I thought of you as I drove that bad boy away from the lot in Pocatello. I was hoping to run over a gray wolf along the Rockland HWY, but alas any who wander out that way probably end up skewered before they can get to the hwy. I didn't even ask about hybrid options.

My wife hates minivans so we are driving a Pilot as our family car for now. the day is coming when we will be driving an Odyssey, however. Probably at the point we decide to have kiddo number 2.

We waited until kiddo number 3 was on its way (due in December). My wife tried to fit the babyseat between the other two car seats in our Honda Accord; it wasn't happenin'. Plus, it's much worse socially to be seen driving a Honda Accord with an entire row of car seats in the back than a minivan where at least the brood is dispersed somewhat.

Thanks. It's a girl; we're going to name her Juanita.

So my wife was backing out of our driveway yesterday morning to take our son to school and she hit the fire hydrant across the street which poked a hole into our rear bumper. The van has 350 miles on it, and already this. I saw it happen, and my wife got out of the van and sat on our front steps, feeling bad. I felt a surge of frustration, but as I walked over to her, I saw the barretts in her hair, and for some reason, at that moment the frustration I had completely left me, and I gave my wife a hug.
Do you ever have moments like that, where some unexpected view makes any frustration or anger you have towards a loved one dissipate? I think it was the fact that my wife had woken up early, gotten ready for the day, put breakfast on the table for the boys, and was on her way to take our son to school, and the barretts were a reimnder of all this -- the barretts she had put into her hair as she got ready for a day of service to the fam.
