Default Conservatives, how would you vote here?

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...2.4d7d4ba.html

This is something that all voters in Dallas will have to decide. Do they want to commit to the future of care for the indigent?

I will be voting to support it.

I think I know who citizens in Utah County would vote.

Quote:
Despite the efforts of the city and various community non-profit organizations, many people are still in need of shelter, whether something temporary yet secure like a homeless shelter, or something permanent. Utah Valley currently lacks a homeless shelter facility, and stipulations in Provo zoning laws currently prohibit one.
http://newsnet.byu.edu/story.cfm/59376

Not only is there not sufficient moneys to support it, THE LOCAL GOVT. HAS MANEUVERED AGAINST IT EVEN IF ENOUGH MONEYS WERE RAISED.

How many more people will freeze to death on the streets of Provo before a change is made?

What denomination will open its doors to the freezing homeless outside the non-Mormon one mentioned?

It's not my vision of Zion.

Citizens in Dallas will approve this hospital, and will pay the higher taxes. What will citizens in Utah Valley do?

Adam, I don't know how you live with those people.

that's the thing--I know lives are affected by these decisions.

You on the other hand think it is game.

But I have to admit, I respect your honesty. You have no desire to help the unfortunate, and that is what a lot of conservative America won't tell the truth about.

MRD, the good thing is, you'll answer to Christ for your sins, and not Mike Waters.

Read the Epistle of James. Does your derision of organized religion extend to the Bible as well?

God, I hope TooBlue is not in agreement with MRD. That would disappoint me.

It's also disappointing that Indy and Tex offer their tacit approval to CollyWolly (i.e. StickitinHim) and Venkman and MRD.

They are in agreement with them, but they know it is defensible. So they keep their mouths shut.

Ofcourse they know it's defensible. We are just doing a good enough job at defending it so they don't need to jump in.

what disappoints me in your complete treatment of this issue as a "he doesnt believe in distribution of wealth by the government so he is going to hell argument" I thought you would be smarter then that.

As for tooblue he believes in government intervention so we are in disagreement.

Adam, why is there no govt. support for this, or any homeless shelter in Provo/Orem?

I give Stewart great props for going down to the Coalition and serving food to these people and getting to know them and changing his position. A great man.
How do they feel about the Brazilian death squads that kill homeless children?

It's gradual steps until you (we) become a monster.
