Any latino music fans?
I've recently been trying to re-acquire some of the spanish-language music that I had a decade ago--much of which was on tape, purchased in Mexico where I served my mish. :-)
A co-worker from Colombia gave me a good head start with some Mana, Alejandro Fernandez, Sin Bandera, Jarabe de Palo, and others. I'm still looking, though, for Cristian's 'El Deseo do Oir tu Voz' and 'Cuando los Angeles Lloran' by Mana. Thinking about going used on Amazon. Vivir Sin Aire has to be one of my favorites, along with La Chula, both from Mana's Donde jugaran los ninos album. Also love Cristian's Soy, the whole Buena Vista Social Club album, and the Mambo Kings soundtrack, among others and off the top of my head. Great stuff!

Mana's Sueños Liquidos is one of my all time favorite albums.

Ricardo Arjona. Great songs. Great lyrics. At times offensive, but always interesting.

I have to be the third to testify to the greatness of Sueños Liquidos. I feel like you don't even have to understand Spanish to appreciate it, but that's hard for me to say since I do get it. I served in northern Mexico (Norte del corazon!) so I also like some norteño and corridos. I've heard a lot of Tigres del Norte's "Somos mas americanos" (We are more American) this past few weeks on the radio.
Los Tres... "Entre la espada y la pared" early Shakira... "Pies descalsos"

Where did you serve? I was in Mazatlan, which then became Culiacan. Cabo was in my mish but I never got to serve there, or Mazatlan for that matter.

I was in a much less paradaisical mission -- Torreon. It's pretty much all desert with high heat and big dirt storms. And a few gandul missionaries that head to Mazatlan.

I chose to protest Latino music today, so I won't answer until tomorrow.
