Deion "Primetime" Sanders
Was listening to one of the dumb local sports talk shows this morning.
One of the hosts asks Deion, "Does cold weather [bears vs. packers] affect the offense more, or the defense?" "I just know it's not good for the black man. It probably benefits the team with less black players." LOL. The hosts went on to the next question. |

Why is that? From what I know, black skin is actually thicker.
In Thomas Hauser's Muhammad Ali bio Ali's doctor said black boxers don't get cut as easily. My friend's wife is a nurse, and she said that when she gives people shots, black skin is harder to poke through. That should mean more insulation.

Boy, this is one of those awkward moments.
Like when you tell a joke about the priest, the rabbi, and the preacher. And then the next guy follows up with a skinhead holocaust "joke". And no one else laughs. Deion grew up in Florida. Deion believes cold does not sit well with black folks. That's Deion's belief, and I have no idea where he gets it from. And I have no idea where you got the idea that "thickness" of skin equates to cold-tolerance. These race things are dangerous waters. You best leave it to me. |

I'd love to see evidence that the derma layers are thicker in one race or another. And insulation is usually related to fat, not skin.

OK let's stop there. Three consistent studies is enough.

So what does this have to do with cold weather?
Is your next theory going to be that curly short hair is not as efficient in trapping heat? |

However, it doesn't imply more hardiness to adverse weather conditions.
