Best Sci-Fi book you have read
For me, it would probably be Dune.

Just to show you how maligning genre fiction is foolish and really bespeaks lack of depth, you have Cormac McCarthy winning huge accolades from literary critics for western and sci fi novels. Some say Blood Meridian is the greatest novel by a living writer; it was rated #3 in the past 25 years by the NY Times last year. The Road just won the Pulitzer and seems destined for immortality.

No Ender's Game fans here? Is it a children's novel?

I liked Ender's Game quite a bit until the ending. Consequently, it's the only book I have read by Card.

I'm reading Canticle thanks to Seattle and Babs.
Dune, the first one, was fantastic.
