Paying for it out of your own pocket.

Just under $100 for an anniversary dinner. If we only had bought some booze...

With the discount coupon it came to about $13.75 sans alcohol.

Dinner for two, with tax and tip at a fancy pants place in a big city (sans alcohol) is generally going to be $300-400, depending on just how fancy the pants are. I would not know exact totals, nor how many times I have done this. But I don't regret a single one.

I would feel bad being that extravagant with someone else's money. But then for my own $, it's not an extravagance really because I value it. I've only eaten at expensive places in NYC, DC, and Chicago. I need to travel a little more to spread the wealth.

What if the meal was a comp - after a long night of gambling? Would the play go into the cost of the meal?
