Republican woes
Mark Steyn breaks down the Republican Party's problems very nicely in this post:

I hear you Tex. The GOP has no conservative leadership. Since I'm in Utah and I don't have to worry about a Democrat win, I'll probably vote third party.

It's been all downhill since Newt Gingrich let things go to his head.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The dems who are getting elected to the Senate and House are more conservative. Perhaps the repubs running for Senate and House will become less conservative in order to win.
Eventually maybe we can get the Presidential candidates to do the same and we can move the fringe elements of both parties back to the sidelines just bitching and moaning, but not doing any harm. |

Fortunately for the Republicans, they are running against the Democrats.

McCain was talking "green" last Friday and most likely turned off a bunch of republicans. Yesterday he throws out the year 2013 for being done in Iraq and I'm sure lost some more republicans who are tired of the money being spent over there. The more this guy speaks the more people he turns off. Send him to hide Arizona and keep his pie hole shut and he might win but the way he is going I'm afraid he's screwed.

If he does just those three things he is conservative enough for me. Let the republican senators, house members and talk show hosts fight the immigration, global warming, etc. fights. Vote for Obama and you get the immigration, global warming stuff and you don't get the tax, judge and anti spending stuff. Seems like a no brainer to me, however I do realize a lot of conservative would rather stand on principle and sit this one out. |
