BYU vs. Colorado
As I was watching the horrific first half and the beginning of the 2nd half where Colorado went on a 13-0 run, I was thinking, "What team is full of white players who can't shoot? BYU."
You just keep asking yourself where the points are going to come from. Davis getting his stuff thrown in his face. Kaufusi with some effectiveness in the post, but stupid bonehead fouls. He is a mental midget on the court. Collinsworth probing the lane. At one point Collinsworth was the best outside-shooting guard on the Cougars. That's how bad it was. Then Seljaas did some catch and shoot very effectively. And Emery heated up after a horrific first 2/3rds. BYU had 2 assists at halftime and 5 bench points. I credit BYU for coming back. Colorado had many open looks in the 2nd half but missed many of them. They were hitting those in the first. Very consistently against these better teams, they are driving and kicking and getting wide open looks. Whereas BYU is always taking tough contested shots. Hard to win with that going on. Again, we see how little Rose values defense. Kaufusi was blocking some shots effectively, but outside of that the defense was really, really bad. Guys not moving their feet. Playing lazy. You can't tell me this looks like a well-coached team. Rose was really tight on subs tonight. I'm still wondering who will be the "Rose revolution" this season. The guy who is not playing now, but will shine in conference play, and we will ask "Why the hell wasn't he playing earlier?" The guy last season was Bartley. This team sure could have used Bartley this season. Some defense and athleticism and AT LEAST as good shooting. Fischer was 2 for 14. Collinsworth was 6 for 18. One of those makes was a 3. And another was a long 2. Shows had bad the other shots were. Kyle Davis was 2 for 8. Colorado was 10 for 24 from the 3. That's the game right there. Drive and kick. BYU had 10 assists versus 18 for Colorado. And this loss with BYU shooting 14 for 18 from the line (well above their season avg. percent). Nate Austin was awful. He's a prime example of someone who came into the program and never got a lick better. He's a worse shooter now than when he was a freshman. Interesting how Rose went away from Toolson this game. 4 minutes. From a guy who was a starter. |

This is KC's team. And against these better teams, he really can't dictate anything on either side of the floor. |

Emery is really the leader and KC should be the garbage hustler. I am surprised that KC has played as much basketball as he has and still shoots FTs and jump shot as horribly as he does. How can a guy with that much physical ability not learn to shoot an average jump shot. He has zero touch.
