Kevin Durant vs Greg Oden, 8 years later - mpfunk, please chime in on this.
So, Portland...you picked Sam Bowie of Michael Jordan, and Greg Oden over Kevin Durant. I remember vividly being in a chatroom on Utefans.net talking about the 2007 draft with Comrade Crimson and mpfunk. Both Comrade Crimson and I agreed that Kevin Durant was a special, special player, and were mystified that Portland would be so dumb as to select Greg Oden, with a history of foot injuries, over a player like Kevin. mpfunk on the other hand, was stern in his belief that Oden was a no-brainer.
mpfunk, what are your thoughts now? |

Let's give Oden some time. He might have a second chapter. And Durrant's foot is on borrowed time.
Jury's still out. You know it could be that Durrant never sniffs a championship. Which would be kind of amazing. He could get hurt, or be like Malone. Runner-up or worse. |

You have got to be kidding me. Durant has had 8 fantastic seasons now. Oden, not a single good season, let alone a season where he actually plays every game. Oden is nowhere near the NBA now, nobody even knows where he is. Luther Wright is more likely to make a comeback than Greg Oden.
Durant has played in 672 NBA games now. Oden has played in 105. Luther Wright's contract he signed in 1994 has the Jazz paying him for 25 years, so he's still on an NBA payroll until 2019. Oden will be nowhere near the NBA in 2019, he's already not even on an NBA payroll. Last edited by the moose's whistle; 12-14-2015 at 05:19 PM. |
