This looks interesting:

It is featured in the "Black and Mormon" book that is the current CG "book-of-the-month" (anyone reading it besides me?). She begged and begged the church leaders to let her go to the temple in the late 1800's. Eventually they let her get sealed to JS, but only as a "servant". Ouch.
