Any Elliot Smith fans?
Lame video but nice song. Wish he wouldn't have killed himself.

I have made a lot of "Indie for Beginners" CDs for a lot of folks and Miss Misery has been on every one of them. Memory Lane and Waltz#2 are also currently in rotation on the iPod. He created a memorable body of work in a relatively short time.

I used to make emo CD's for the kids in my ward when they would tell me they were emo. I would call it "Finding Emo".....boy were they shocked to learn the bands that were emo compared to what they were listening too.

I remember when he played at the Oscars (?). It was weird to see one lone guy with his guitar, playing an earnest nice song, in the midst of all that Babylon.

Danimal and I were just talking about Elliot Smith the other day and how much we enjoyed seeing him many years ago at DV8 in SLC. We were first turned on to his music from Good Will Hunting. Yeah, I'd love to see him again. Too bad he's gone.

Same. Good Will Hunting was what made me get into E Smith.
I liked them apples.

That's what I love about his music -- his melancholy. He was clearly a deeply troubled dude.
Apparently, his death was not decidedly a suicide. Some evidence pointed toward homicide by his girlfriend. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/esmithaut1.html For you Dallas area folks -- he grew up in Lancaster.
